Beth TatarkoBeth Tatarko, President, SHRM-SCP

Beth is founder and President of The Austin Peters Group. She has worked with government and non-profit organizations for more than 35 years, including 25 years with The Austin Peters Group.  Her expertise includes compensation and wage studies, executive recruitment, performance evaluation and training, program evaluation and grant writing, and organizational development and customized training.  Her clients are largely in the West and Midwest.  She also served six years as a local elected official and chaired a successful school bond campaign for $97.3 million.  Beth is a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management. She has attended the Center for Creative Leadership, is certified in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and is a certified trainer for Development Dimensions International and 7-Habits of Highly Effective People. She received special training from the University of Minnesota in leading focus groups. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and a Master of Science Degree in Regional and Community Planning from Kansas State University. She is active in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a member of IPMA-HR. Beth lives in Fort Collins, Colorado and enjoys the Rockies and everything they offer including biking and hiking. Next on her list of things to learn is fly fishing. Marla Flentje, Senior Consultant

Marla has a 25-year career in public service, much of it providing services to local governments and nonprofit agencies. She has significant experience in executive searches, strategic planning, facilitation and mediation. She served as the Education Director for the Kansas Association of Counties providing teaching, consulting, and education management. Flentje also served in the Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Affairs at Wichita State University for thirteen years, including Associate Director for Government and Community Services, where she worked on numerous projects with local governments in the region. She has also served on the faculty for the Training Institute for the National League of Cities. Flentje has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Wichita State University. Over the past eighteen years, she has been involved in executive recruitment projects with cities, counties, and nonprofit organizations in the Midwest.

Peter Tatarko, Senior Consultant, SHRM-CP

Peter has worked for APG for more than five years. He works on salary and benefit studies, collecting and analyzing data for employee surveys, and developing advanced applications for managing large data sets. Prior to his recent return to APG, he was a consultant with Cerner Corporation, traveling the United States and working with clients on project implementation. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Kansas State University and has completed 30 hours toward a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Peter is a lead author on employee engagement studies and co-leader on multiple compensation studies. Professional Memberships and Certifications: SHRM membership and SHRM-CP.

Michelle Schamberger, Consultant

Michelle has more than 15 years of experience in government writing and training, and teaching for governments and non-profits. She was the grant writer for Lake County School District, where she secured millions of dollars over four years. She was also a lead analyst and designer for instructional design and e-Learning courses. Michelle is an instructional designer and technical writer for training. Prior to working in the field of training, she spent 11 years teaching college-level English. She has developed communications and marketing plans for major corporations and organizations. Michelle has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Master of Arts Degree in English. Michelle has been with The Austin Peters Group for 14 years and prior to that was an Educational Consultant for Sprint Corporation. She has served as an Adjunct Instructor at Colorado Mountain College, University of Missouri Kansas City, Penn Valley, Maple Woods and Johnson County.
